Mother Nature wreaked havoc on local infrastructure this morning.

A number of hydro poles fell victim winds gusting as high as 70 kilometres an hour at times.

The entire community of Walpole Island First Nation was without power for most of the morning after wind damaged a hydro pole near the Walpole Island Bridge, forcing the closure of offices and facilities.

Meantime, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Lambton Line between Baseline Road and Salisbury Road, west of Highway 40 for a downed hydro line shortly after 8 o’clock.

Provincial Police are urging drivers to use caution today with high winds, rain, and snow moving through the area.
