ptsdA new support group is being offered in Chatham-Kent for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Brian Knowler, an 18 year police veteran, says the Wings of Change is geared towards those who work as a front-line worker in a high-stress field, whether it’s police, fire and other emergency services, health care workers, animal welfare agents, or even funeral service employees.

Knowler says, “People who want to attend the meeting don’t have to be diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or with another operational stress injury. It can just be that they are having difficulty coping at work, or that they are stressed at work and it’s impacting their home life. So it doesn’t necessarily mean that someone has to have a diagnosis in hand to attend.”

The inaugural meeting will be held tomorrow night at the Canadian Mental Health Association on Grand Avenue West in Chatham, starting at 6:30
