Chatham-Kent’s arts and culture sector is kicking off the new year in style.

Friday, January 26th marks the Winter ARTcrawl, focusing on creativity and artistic expressions.

The Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace will launch their exhibition season, featuring paintings, installations, and highlights from the permanent collection.

The event begins at 5pm with artist Maxwell Johnson’s debut exhibition, “Eye, Sea, You.”

Next, art lovers are invited to stroll through the downtown Chatham, making stops at Art & Heirloom and Crow City Café to take in masterpieces by Bev Fish, Dava Robichaud, and Lorie Thibault.

The Thames Art Gallery will host an opening reception at 7:00 pm for celebrated artist Amanda McCavour’s “The Blue Afar.” This installation serves as the gallery’s main event, filling ground floor spaces with fields of blue thread-like forms suspended from the ceiling.

The Mezzanine will showcase works from the Thames Art Gallery’s permanent collection in the exhibition “Fragile: Handle with Care,” while the CK Museum will open its doors for an exhibition of its collection, offering a walk-through of Chatham-Kent’s history with its ‘80 in 80’ exhibition.

The evening will conclude with musical performances by hometown guitarists Tom Lockwood and Darryl Orr in Studio One, starting at 8pm.
