A local woman is facing charges after allegedly striking a police officer in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said an officer was on patrol on Pine Street shortly before 1 a.m. on Tuesday when they were approached by an agitated woman who allegedly struck the officer in the chest.
The woman was taken into custody but suffered minor injuries during the arrest and was taken to hospital for assessment.
The 25-year-old Chatham woman is now charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
She will answer the charges in court at a later date.
