An outstanding debt between a man and a woman has led to charges.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a residence in the southeast area of Chatham after a woman was assaulted at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Following an investigation, authorities learned that a woman owed a man money from a two-year-old debt. The man also previously threatened the woman while asking for the money
A 67-year-old Chatham man was arrested and is now charged with assault and uttering threats. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
