Charges have been laid following a liquor theft in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a woman entered a retail store on Wellington Street West shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday and began concealing various bottles of alcohol with a coat and blanket.
The manager, who recognized the woman from a previous incident, called police after she made no attempt to pay for the bottles.
Authorities arrived and arrested a 31-year-old Chatham woman who had been under a probation order prohibiting her from attending the store.
The accused is now charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with probation. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
