An elderly woman is recovering in hospital after being pinned under a vehicle in downtown Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a section of King Street East on Monday shortly before 2 p.m. following a collision involving a pedestrian.
Authorities said an 82-year-old Chatham woman had exited her vehicle while it was in reverse, causing it to move backwards and roll over her, pinning her underneath.
Officers assisted the woman until paramedics arrived, and she was taken to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are reminding drivers to ensure their vehicles are placed in park and that the parking brake is engaged before exiting.
