Woman Pulled From Vehicle In Thames River

A local woman has been charged after a vehicle was driven into the Thames River in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to Kingsway Drive shortly before 10 p.m. on December 26 for a report of a vehicle in the water.

Officers arrived to find that the vehicle had been driven down the boat launch and into the river.

Firefighters and EMS also attended the scene to safely pull the driver and lone occupant out of the vehicle. The vehicle was later removed from the river by a towing service.

The driver was uninjured.

A 48-year-old Chatham woman is now charged with one count of careless driving.
