An arrest has been made in Chatham after a woman was threatened by a man armed with a crossbow.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue West at around 2:30 on Thursday after a woman reported being threatened by a man with a loaded crossbow. The man has also made prior threats toward others within the household.
Police officers at the scene set up a containment area around the home and directed the occupants to come out. When the man refused, officers were forced to use a Taser to take him into custody safely.
As a result, a 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, failing to comply with a release order, and possessing ammunition contrary to a probation order.
He was taken to police headquarters and held in custody for a bail hearing.
