No injuries have been reported following a garage fire in Blenheim.

Fire fighters responded to a Communication Road property, just east of Allison Line shortly after 8 o’clock this morning.

Station 18 Blenheim with support from Harwich North and Raleigh South quickly brought the flames under control while preventing the fire from spreading to any other buildings on the property.

Officials say the blaze has been listed as an accident, caused by a wood stove. Local residents are reminded that wood stoves should be placed on a floor pad at least one metre away from walls, furniture, curtains, and other flammable material.

Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $60,000.
