Woodlot Preservation Bylaw on Council Agenda

Tonight’s Chatham-Kent council meeting will deal with a number of issues that council did not address because they ran out of time at their marathon July 11 meeting.

An item that is on council’s agenda is an update on work completed so far towards creating a woodlot preservation bylaw over the past year.

The topic of forests and woodlots has historically been, and continues to be a political hot potato in Chatham-Kent

Council took a pause on working on the bylaw for the past three months, because they decided to hire a consultant to prepare a woodlot preservation framework recommendation, as well as determine what further information council needed to make their decision as well what stakeholder engagement was still needed.

However, no consultant put in a qualified bid to provide those services.
