CK Public Health has officially declared a COVID-19 workplace outbreak at the Wallaceburg WalMart location.
Public Health declared the outbreak after a fourth positive case among the workforce was reported on Thursday.
The company has now confirmed to 99.1 News there are a total of 5 employees that have tested positive.

(Editors Note: Officials with Walmart Canada initially indicated on Friday there were 6 active cases, but later corrected that number to 5.)

The last date worked by the latest associate to test positive is January 10th.
The health unit says contact tracing has NOT confirmed that transmission is happening within the workplace facility. However, workplace transmission cannot be ruled out as the cases could have shared work areas.
“There is no common source of exposure that has been identified outside of the workplace,” says Jeff Moco of the public health COVID communications team. “An outbreak has been declared and CK Public Health is conducting further testing.”
Moco adds that all close contacts of cases have been identified, notified, and isolated in order to prevent further spread. No cases or contacts have been identified in store patrons and the risk to the public remains very low.
Anyone who has not been contacted by CK Public Health does not need to be concerned about exposure risk.
