WWF Sets its Sights on the Mayor

The head of Water Wells First is calling on Chatham-Kent’s mayor to answer questions, or step down.

Kevin Jakubec says former Environment Minister Glen Murray wrote a letter to Randy Hope discussing water well issues in North Kent.

However, the activist says Hope refrained from passing the letter along.

Jakubec is inviting Hope to the group’s next meeting on August 15th to answer questions from WWF members.

“If the mayor cannot provide an adequate reason that’s acceptable by our community, then Water Wells First will go ahead and file a complaint with the ombudsman of Ontario for conflict of interest,” Jakubec says. “At that point I would strongly suggest Mayor Hope follow the former Minister of the Environment, Glen Murray, in resigning.”

Murray stepped down earlier this week to take a job with an environmental think tank.
