The local branch of the YMCA is celebrating 80 years of serving the Chatham-Kent community.

The Chatham-Kent YMCA has launched its 2025 Annual Campaign by announcing a fundraising goal of $155,000. Last year’s campaign surpassed its $100,000 target by $13,000.

During an event at the YMCA in Chatham on April 16, several initial donations were announced from local organizations including $5,000 from Waste Connections of Canada/Ridge Landfill Trust, $10,000 from Entegrus, and another $15,000 from TekSavvy Solutions Inc.

The local organization also unveiled a new 80th anniversary logo and announced that historical displays will be set up at the Chatham location throughout the year in honour of the milestone.  A community celebration will also be held at Sons of Kent Brewing Company on August 8, featuring entertainment, food, and more.

The YMCA financial assistance program supported over 710 members in Chatham-Kent in 2024 with $159,285 in aid.
