Newly resurfaced YMCA playground provides a cleaner, safer place to play.

Heather Forbes, GM of Childcare says it’s all possible thanks to a $4500 contribution from the Chatham-Kent YMCA Foundation.

“We were able to put in some new artificial turf,” Forbes explains. “The playground had a lot of dirt and areas the kids were tracking in (to the school,) and getting this new artificial turf really helped.”

About 26 kids make use of the playground during the week.

“Outdoor play should be a natural part of the daily activities for young children,” Forbes says. “It gives them a way to connect and explore their natural environment, gives them the freedom and opportunity to burn off some energy, and develop their large muscle and creative minds.”
