A teenage driver has lost their licence for a few days after being pulled over by police on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the westbound lanes of the highway near Kent Bridge Road, shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday.

Suspecting the driver had been drinking, officers conducted a roadside screening test, which registered an alert.

As a result, an 18-year-old from Embro is charged with speeding, having a blood alcohol level over zero milligrams as a novice driver, and being over the legal limit as a young driver.

The teen was also issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension.
