Young Professional, Volunteer, and Community Inclusion Awards Handed Out

More winners have been announced for this year’s Wallaceburg Business and Community Excellence Awards.

Shelby Pearce has been named the 2021 Young Professional. Born in Wallaceburg, Pearce is the founder of Lunar and Company, a marketing company that is helping put local businesses on the map, with a special focus on supporting women-led organizations.

The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce is recognizing Chris Taylor as Volunteer of the Year. Taylor has an extensive volunteer history, helping out for the last 12 years at YourTV, 10 years at 99.1 CKXS, and eight years with Community Living.

DeBot Farms Popcorn Barn is the recipient of the Community Inclusion Award. Earlier this year, the Popcorn Barn team partnered with Community Living Wallaceburg to hand-harvest and process 10 acres of popcorn, showing everyone the importance of teamwork through their employment program.

“It’s been great working with Community Living, right from administration to the kids, social workers,” DeBot Farms spokesman Dennis DeBot says. “They are so polite those kids, they did a great job training them, I tip my hat to them.”

More awards will be announced live Wednesday morning on 99.1 from 8:30 to 9am.
