Students looking for a summer job may look no further than the Youth Job Fair happening this Wednesday.
Several local businesses, including the YMCA, Peeters’ Mushrooms, Concentrix, and YA Canada, are hiring.
“As a group, we’re talking about some stuff, looking at the summer coming up and all of a sudden we went “holy cow, school’s out and summer’s starting” and we got thinking there’re probably some students who are thinking about looking for work,” says Kristy Jacobs, Project manager at the Chatham-Kent Workforce Planning Board. “We got talking to some employers and they were kind of in the same situation, things are happening and we need to get some folks hired.”
Jacobs says the job fair is open to anyone aged 15 to 30.
“They can come out, bring their resume, if they bring it on a USB our employment resource centre advisers are going to be on site to help them polish up their resume.”
Job seekers should dress to impress as some employers may conduct interviews on the spot.
The Job Fair is taking place this Wednesday at the Chatham Public Library from 3-6pm.
