Tweens and teens now only have to wait four weeks to get their second dose of COVID vaccine.
On Friday, the Ministry of Health announced it was speeding up second shots for those in the 12-17 age range to just 28 days.
Officials say vaccines are the best defence against COVID-19, including the delta variant, and the best way to ensure a safe return to the classroom in September.
Meantime no change in the local COVID stats. Since the last update from Public Health on Friday, officials have confirmed one new case and listed one as resolved, maintaining a total active caseload of seven.
74% of Chatham-Kent’s adult population 18 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 44% are fully vaccinated. 46% of youth aged 12-17 have been given at least their first shot.
In all, more than 103,400 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered by Public Health and its partners across Chatham-Kent.
