The Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent is joining its sisters around the world in calling for an end to violence against women.
Close to 30 participants, including members of the Chatham-Kent Police and OPP, marched across the Third Street Bridge yesterday as part of the Zonta Says No campaign.
President Joyce Reissner says this is the seventh year for the event, which kicks off 16 days of international activism against gender based violence.
“We’re trying to get people to show support by donating money to the Women’s Centre or the local hospitals for sexual assault victims,” Reissner says. “Have conversations with their daughters or their sons on how to treat women properly.”
Statistics show 35% of women around the world have experienced some form of physical or sexual violence.
