Ontario College students could be back in the classroom as soon as early next week, depending on when the provincial government passes the back to work bill.

John Fairley, Vice President of Communications at St. Clair College, says before the bill passes, it’s going to be debated at Queen’s Park today and possibly tomorrow as well.

“I don’t believe that … Andrea Horwath, leader of the Ontario NDP, that they are going to support a straight up approval of it. With that, they’re going to have the hours of debate in order to pass the bill”, says Fairley. “Patrick Brown, leader of the Progressive Conservatives, is supporting it, as well as the Liberals who have the majority in the House, so it will pass. It’s just a matter of how long it will take”

Fairley says he’s confident that students will be back in school next week.

St. Clair College released a list of new dates for the remainder of the fall semester earlier this month, including the holiday break, and a new exam time frame. You can view their contingency plan here.
