English Catholic Board Considering its Options on Snow Days

The St Clair Catholic District School Board has no plans to follow it’s public counterpart’s lead when it comes to snow days for high school students.

Last week, the Lambton Kent District School Board announced it would be closing all secondary schools whenever school buses were cancelled due to inclement weather, and all high school students would instead be shifted to remote learning for the day.

Deb Crawford, the Director of Education for the English Catholic board says with just two regional high schools, a similar plan would mean closing down 1/8 of the board.

“We’re looking at a way to manage this,” Crawford says “For us to go similar organization as Lambton-Kent, it simply wouldn’t work for us because our kids come from all over Chatham-Kent to UCC and all over Sarnia-Lambton to St Patrick’s.”

Crawford says the board will be meeting this week to go over its options when it comes to snow days and remote learning.
