The CK Gay Pride Association is applauding Chatham-Kent for approving a rainbow crosswalk in downtown Chatham.
Vice President Chris Couture says it’s a step in the right direction.
“It puts us ahead of quite a few cities, like Windsor. I don’t believe they have one yet. It shows that we’re inclusive, and it will generate conversation”, says Couture. “Although we’re following a few municipalities, we’re ahead of a lot who don’t have a rainbow crosswalk yet”
Rainbow crosswalks have been installed in London and Toronto.
Councill Brock McGregor brought forward the idea to Chatham-Kent Council earlier this month.
