More affordable housing could be coming to Wallaceburg.

A report to council for their meeting Monday night recommends using $210,000 in Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation Seed Funding to finish pre-construction activities for a housing development on Westcourt Boulevard.

The money would be used to get preliminary architectural design drawings and cost analysis for the project.

The Westcourt development would include 60 to 70 units of both affordable and market rent units, along with a municipal park.

The project was first discussed by council in December, 2021 as the municipality looked into ways to use municipally-owned land to address the housing crisis.
