A local MPP candidate says her recent meetings with the Leamington Mayor John Patterson and Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope were insightful.
NDP candidate Jordan McGrail say the meetings went well.
“(They were) really great. I was so glad that both the mayors were able to speak with me. It gave me great insight to our communities’ needs and how an NDP government can help our communities.“
McGrail says local issues include rural access to high speed internet, affordable housing and hydro prices, supporting small businesses, and the environment.
“In the Chatham-Kent area, there were some environmental needs, which is the preservation of the shoreline of Lake Erie,” says McGrail.
“These are all issues that I’m willing to speak up on behalf of Chatham-Kent-Leamington, regardless of who’s in government, I will always be the voice here. As long as it’s good for our community and adds to both Chatham-Kent and Leamington. For a long time now, I’ve felt that Chatham-Kent hasn’t had a good voice to help them out. Everything from let’s get a new arena in Chatham, or projects that would really put us ahead like [access to rural internet],” says McGrail.
McGrail is known for being a part of the We Own It campaign, which advocates against the privatization of public services.
Meantime, Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath will be making a major campaign announcement tomorrow morning in Toronto.
