An online fundraiser has been launched to support the tanker truck driver involved in a deadly crash in Wallaceburg over the Victoria Day weekend.
Organized by staff and management at Peavey Mart in Chatham, the GoFundMe campaign has raised just over $3000 since it was launched on Sunday.
The truck driver, whose name has not been publicly released, suffered minor physical injuries in the May 21st collision that claimed three lives and sent two others to hospital.
“We are respecting his privacy by keeping his name anonymous as this is a very difficult time for him and his family,” a statement on the fundraising page says. “Due to the impact of this accident and the horrific outcomes he is not able, at this point, to continue doing his job. We would like to support and help him and his family by raising money to aid them during this difficult time they are facing.”
A GoFundMe account for the five young adults in the car has raised over $88,000 in the past week.
